Meet our Doctors

Dr. Preston Greer

I grew up in Arlington, Texas and went on to college at the University of Texas at Austin. I then attended dental school at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas (graduating in 2013) followed by an orthodontic residency at UT Houston, which is the same program that Dr. Collins attended.

A career in orthodontics helps me to fulfill both my passion and my purpose. Passion, in that I devote myself to the technical aspect of creating a customized smile for every patient, and purpose, in that my work helps others and gives me the opportunity to mentor and encourage my patients every step along the way. This is why I love what I do! My goal is not only to straighten teeth, but also for patients to leave our appointments in a better state of mind and well being than when they arrived at our office. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a patient wanting to smile after treatment and not holding back from expressing the positive emotions in life.

My wife, Sydney and I are incredibly grateful to have joined Dr. Collins and his excellent team in 2019.  Outside the office, we stay busy raising our three wonderful children - Nolan, Vance and Maeve.  We're active members of Harris Creek Baptist Church and spend most of our free time enjoying family life and exploring all that the Waco area has to offer.

Dr. Sydney Greer

I grew up in the small town of Shallowater, Texas and graduated from Shallowater High School.  I then moved across the state to College Station to attend college at Texas A&M University, followed by dental school at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas.  After my graduation from dental school in 2015, Preston and I moved to The Sunshine State for three years where he worked as an orthodontist while I completed my orthodontic residency at the University of Florida.  We loved our time in Florida, but we wanted to get back to Texas as soon as possible to be closer to family and friends! It was such a blessing joining Dr. Collins and his wonderful team in 2019, and we have enjoyed growing and raising our family here in Waco.  We have three wonderful children - Nolan, Vance and Maeve, and a miniature golden doodle named Piper.  We enjoy being involved at Harris Creek Baptist Church and love spending quality time as a family around Waco.

I decided when I was 13 years old that I wanted to follow in my orthodontist’s footsteps and become an orthodontist myself. I experienced all kinds of complex orthodontic treatments as a child, and I am so thankful for these experiences now because they help me better relate to my patients! I was a shy, quiet little girl that lacked a lot of confidence in those awkward middle school years.  I give my orthodontist a lot of the credit in boosting my self-esteem by completely transforming my smile. My favorite part of my job is watching the confidence that my patients gain throughout their treatment and watching their personalities blossom once their beautiful smiles are revealed.

Dr. Michael Collins

Dr. Collins might have fully retired in 2025, but he is an ever-present legacy in the Greer Orthodontics success story, and always will be. He enjoyed helping build smiles for thousands of patients in the Waco area for over 35 years.

Education

My quest to become an orthodontist began at the University of Texas at Austin. After three years of undergraduate study, I was granted early admission to the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston where I received my Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1984. After four years of family practice experience, I was accepted as a resident in the post-doctoral program in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics back at UTDB-Houston where I graduated in 1990.

Continuing Education

My commitment to continuing education has taken me to classes and seminars throughout the United States. Examples of this additional education include functional appliance (Herbst) therapy in Oregon to a one-week mini-residency at the orthodontic department of the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill. I am also a past President of the University of Texas Orthodontic Alumni Association.

As a part of my continuing education, I am a member of the following professional organizations:

  • American Association of Orthodontists
  • Texas Orthodontic Association
  • American Dental Association
  • Texas Dental Association
  • Central Texas District Dental Society

Through my continuing education, the latest innovations in the mechanics and materials offered in orthodontic patient care are utilized in our practice. My patients deserve the best.

Family Life

My wife Kathy and I have been married since 1982 and have two sons, Reed and Zack. Both of our sons attended Midway schools and they are both petroleum engineers. In 2017 we welcomed the addition of our daughter-in-law, Stacey who married our son Zack. So our family is growing! In retirement I am enjoying traveling, golfing, hunting and fishing.
